HSED Ambassador Program

Thank you for participating in our 5.09 HSED program in Racine or Milwaukee! Through our program, we’ve touched the lives of over 520 students by helping them attain their High School Equivalency Degree.

There are 13,906 adults in Racine and 68,880 adults in Milwaukee without a High School Diploma. We know there is a lot more work that we must do to improve Wisconsin residents’ lives, and we know that our students love our program. That is why we’ve decided to start the Ambassador Program to spread the word about our online HSED.

YES, I want to be an ambassador!

What is the Ambassador Program?

Ambassadors are graduates (alumni) of the HSED program who want to help other community members know about our program. In the Ambassador Program, we will nominate select graduates of our program to represent the YWCA publicly and reach out to friends, family, neighbors, and community members to get more people signed up for the HSED program

Why would I want to become an Ambassador?

  • Are you proud of being an HSED graduate?
  • Do you know friends, family, neighbors, or community members who would benefit from the HSED program?
  • Do you want to help the YWCA HSED reach the lives of more residents in Milwaukee and Racine?

If you said “yes” to any of these questions, you could be a great candidate for our program.

We know that your time is valuable. To say thank you for your efforts, we’ve included rewards for Ambassadors (such as HSED-branded swag) and prizes. We will also give Ambassadors business cards and other outreach materials to help them with their quest.

For Ambassadors who demonstrate strong outreach skills, the City of Racine has agreed to provide certificates signed by the Mayor that you can use to put this position on your resume as valuable work experience.

How do I get started?

Are you interested in learning more about the position? Or do you know you are the perfect fit?

What will I do as an Ambassador?

  • Share your experience with the HSED program with friends, family, neighbors, and community members.
  • Use social media, texts, flyers, and more to spread awareness and excitement about the program.
  • For people who want to sign up, provide basic information about HSED details, and tell them to fill out the HSED interest form.
  • Be a friendly face in your community, be willing to answer questions about the HSED, and refer people to Marie & Dawn for answers to more complex questions.

How do the rewards work for Ambassadors?

Whenever someone (a “recruit”) attends an orientation session because of your referral, you have an additional ticket added to our prize lottery. When the person you refer completes our HSED interest form, make sure that for the question “how did you hear about us?” they select “HSED graduate” and then write in your name. This part is important! Naming you helps us track who should get a reward!

How do the rewards work for recruits?

We will enter recruits to win prizes once they complete either the TABE assessment or the first portion of the GED online practices test. Recruits don’t need to receive a “passing” score to qualify, they simply need to give their best effort!

When are the orientation sessions?

Once your recruit completes the interest form, they will be given different days and times for virtual orientation sessions. As long as they have a smartphone or a computer, they can join an orientation session at any day or time out of the available options.
