Jake Gorges is YWCA Southeast Wisconsin’s Adult Education Director. Jake is committed to promoting racial and gender equity in all aspects of his personal and professional life. Jake believes one way to promote a more equitable world is through adult basic education and helping adults achieve high school level credentialing, a base plate for further opportunity.
Jake moved to Milwaukee to attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Jake earned a bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies, with a focus on adult education.
During his nearly two-decade career in non-profit management, Jake has overseen and created programs that have helped roughly 2,000 adult students obtain a credential, including ABE, GED and High School Equivalency Diploma programming.
Jake finds great joy in spending time with his partner of over 15 years and watching their two young children learn and develop into justice-minded people. He adores his Jack Russel Terrier, who regularly reminds him of the importance of dogged determination and naps in the sun.
