Transitional Housing Program

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, 2,000 people are homeless every night in Milwaukee. And, 62,000 Milwaukee children are living in poverty.

The Transitional Housing Program provides temporary housing and supportive services to women and their children experiencing homelessness throughout Milwaukee County.  An average of 32 families are served by the program each year. Families are able to stay in the program for up to two years.

This program is designed to break the cycle of homelessness by addressing the following:
      • interpersonal skill-building
      •
work and life management education
      • parenting skills
      •
drug abuse prevention
      •
domestic violence counseling and other related
services, including art therapy sessions for children

How you can help
      • Sponsor an apartment unit by cleaning, painting, stocking the pantry, etc.  to prepare the unit for a new family to move in.
      • Participate in the Families Assisted in Transitional Housing (FAITH) program, a partnership between area churches and
community groups that promotes regular involvement with the program.
      • Make an in-kind gift - see our wish list for ideas.
      • Donate money to the program.
